New Tank Setup - Sump

Hi, I need some help with a new tank setup, particularly a basic sump setup. I'm not particularly concerned with a complicated sump setup to filter, etc. I'm just interested in increasing total water volume, having extra space to place items such as the heater and UV filter, keeping water in the main tank level, and easy / less disruptive water changes.

My main tank will be a standard 55g and the sump tank will be a 20g. The 55g has a built in overflow which will flow into the 20g. I will also be running a canister filter. I believe I need the intake and output from the canister filter in the main tank. My question is: is all I need to pump the water back into the main tank a pump? I was looking at the Eheim 1250 submersible hobby pump to do the job. Is that all I need to get the water flowing correctly from the sump back to the main tank? Please excuse my ignorance as I'm admittedly new to the sump concept but like the idea due to the reasons I listed above.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Yes all you should need is a pump and some tubing to move the water out and put it back into the tank. Make sure you buy one that will do well with the constant amount of flow and will be able to pump it out fast enough.
