New tank filter setup

Hi i am buying a second hand tank with an internal filter system already in place, the new tank has previously been used for marine fish and my tank is tropical, do i need to replace all the filter sponges etc for new ones??

Welcome to TFK Dooba!!!

I have never dipped into the Salt-water world of fish, for fear if I set up another tank, my wife will divorce me....but it would be my guess that you're going to need a new filter, or atleast new pads.

What kind of "internal filter" are you talking about?? Is it a under gravel filter?

What size tank do you have? They may also determine if the filter will be sufficient to take care of your tank...
