Hey, I am new to fishkeeping, and I already have a 20g tank with 9 gold pristella tetras. I don't have much more room, but I would like to start another tank. Does anyone have ideas for a fun sub-10g tank? I was thinking of a 10g tank with a male auratus cichlid and some 1-2 females. How does that sound?
You could have a bunch of those since they don't need a lot of room at all and some guppies or platys or rasboras or something of the sort. Just give the tank a head start to grow some algae. And thank you for asking before buying
Thanks. This looks like it's going to turn out to be a pretty sweet aquarium. I like the idea of the guppies, since I've had some before and I really like them.
I'm really glad you pointed out the overcrowding issue because I would have either felt really disapointed when I got to the store or really guilty when I got home and remembered how big my tank was. Thanks a bunch.
No problem I saw some sweet guppies in my LFS earlier, made me wish I didn't already have some other plans for my 29 gallon's remaining space. How many do you think you'll get?
hi
if you get male guppies, then make sure that you have some
melafix on hand, because they tend to nip at eachother.
females you need to be aware that they will possibly be
already pregnant,so you may have fry to deal with.
Thanks for the advice. I was aware of the part about the females and fry, but not the part about male fin-nipping. That will help me manage a successful aquarium.
