Yes, I've used this in 3 tanks with a fourth pending. It is very close in appearance to the sand in the Rio Negro and other Amazonian streams, so quite authentic. You can see it in the photos of my 33g and 115g under the "Aquariums" tab below my name on the left.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If youíre going to take it under your wing then youíre responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

Where do you find/get that substrate?? Not that I'm setting up anymore tanks, unfortunately. LOL

It is regular playsand, I got mine from Home Depot and I believe from other members' posts that Lowe's carry it too. Brand is Quickrete [never sure I've spelt that correctly] Playsand. It comes in 25kg/55lb bags for about $6-7 in Canada, probably cheaper in US.

The prep work on the 55G stand. Slow and methodical. Having to strip the old finish off that someone carelessly painted over the original finish. A couple views of the sanding/stripping being done! A shot of the finished top. Joined 2 boards together with pocket hole joinery. Top is just sitting in place, not attached yet. Will paint bottom first then attach the top. And a close up of the new tops routed 1/2" round over edge!
