New aquarium setup

Hi everyone! Im new to the site and had a few questions! I just bought a 260 gallon acrylic aquarium that im in the process of seting up. I currently have a few set up and im not new to the hobbie. I'm just not sure as to what type of filtration to use? It was setup as a reef and has a large overflow box. I was going to run 3 canister filters but was thinking it would be cheaper and more effective to run a sump since the tank is allready drilled with an overflow. What size sump should I build? and how many gph should the pump be? just a ballpark figure is all im looking for. The tank will be mixed and have allot of live plants. It has 1" bulk heads. Im not sure how much flow it runs ither. Here are some pictures of the tank. its 70x48x24

Thanks and this is a very good site glad to have joined!!

Well im building a sump that is 12x12x48 seperated into 4 parts first prefilter media, second bio-balls,third a aclumation tank/refugeium and forth pump return. After construction ill post pictures it will have a 1600gph return pump.I Know its a small sump but will filter my tank quite well and adds 30 gallons of water to make the whole setup almost 300 gallons. My issue was I had to build the tank to fit inside the stand thats why its so small! for more circulation I ordered two powerheads rated at 1300gph.

Could you get another filter????? Are you absolutley sure its not working? Thats why you leave it over night just with water to test the heater and filter are working..

Which of these fish rules the roost, the bass or the oscar? Just curious as I know both species are on the large and aggressive side.

This may be an oddity but they are good buds! at lights out at night the bass will go into the corner and the oscar will lay on him haha! its kinda weird looking almost like hes using the bass as a pillow! and they hunt the small bait fish together! They seem to be a good pair! I had a pacu in with the oscar and he dident like him at all. So to answer your question i would say neither there is a large redhorse in the tank and he dosent tank any crud from the other fish so i guess you could say he is the big dog of the tank!
