thank you. I also have a black one and 2 wild colored ones but have not been able to capture a good shot of them just yet. I will post them when I do. They are so elegant. I believe they are correctly named Angels. :) then again, the Guppy fry remaining in there might not agree.

Looks like one of the angels has a torn upper fin. Use Melafix it works great for torn or damaged fins. I always use this for torn fins or damaged fins and the fins heal up fast and grow back to normal in no time.

Nice looking angelfish pictures. I miss my blushing angelfish. Makes me want to go out and buy one. With a nice group of 5 angels you should be able to get a pair to pair off. You will need to take the others that do not pair off out as their will be tension in the tank and they will be picked on by the pair. My friend rehomes the ones that do not pair up or puts them in another tank.

You know, I thought too that it was a torn or damaged fin but then I went and looked at about 2 dozen more of that species and they are all shaped like that. Is it possible it just is that way? Both of my Blushing Angels fins are that way. Odd. The Dorsal fin on the Blushing are far higher then that on the Black or the Marble, Koi. Each one has a very different patter. How does the Melafix work? Would I need to worry about other fish in the tank with it's use?

I do have another tank that I can put the odd fish out if a pairing should occur.

I looked at a few diffent sites and also at the petstore the Black cost more. Any thoughts as to why? Are they harder to breed? To me, they are not the prettiest of the Angels so I wonder why they are worth more?

I have one Black, should he or she pair with another and I had a bunch of black babies... Well, we shall just wait to see what happens. lol

The Melafix is very safe. It has aloe vera and tea tree oil. They say to take out the carbon if you have it but I do not. I know it is safe because I put it in with new born fry and dwarf shrimps and those are very sensitive to meds.
I think the Blk. are more expensive as they are a color that does not show up to often which brings up the price. I saw some nice blk. angels at my fish club auction that were very nice looking with red eyes almost looked Gothic sort of but pretty.

Strange about the fins. My blushing platnums fins were not like that so time will tell when they get bigger. I noticed in the picture the blushing one has the start of the yellow on the top of the head. They will look so nice when they get bigger.I ended up auctioning my 6" one as I wanted to get 2 small ones to grow up together but that did not work as the 2 small ones started picking on each other so i had to take 1 back and the other died suddenly awhile later. I wished I kept my big 6" one as it was good with all my community fish even my glow light tetras I had at the time.

I hope you know they have alot of babies. I have a friend that used to breed them. The fry when they get to free swimming the other fish in the tank will eat them so you need to keep the pair in a tank without other fish even tetras if you want to have the fry survive after hatching. You will also need an extra tank to raise the tiny fry in as they grow better when they have alot of room to swim.I hope that your angels do well and stay healthy.

I know of a good web-site for angelfish that my friend used to buy food, medication. They even have medicated flake food. I bought some medicated flake food and I have immune booster flakes, dewormer flakes for new fish I brought from them. Steve that owns the business is very nice and if you have any questions he gets right back to you. When you order they give a free sample of food and it is not a tiny sample. I also bought some mixed staple tropical flake food which is a mix of all the flake food if you can not decide. The 3 oz. size is plenty if you do not have alot of fish as I ordered the 8oz. flakes and the bag is huge. All the food is vacummed sealed. I switched out my Tetramin flakes for this food. My fish love it.Here is the web-site:

Thanks for that site, I will look into it. Yes, the one is getting a yellow forehead (don't know that is the technical term ha ha) the other thus far is a pure white with little rosey cheeks. Beautiful fish for sure. They are young only about 2 inches or a bit more so no pairing as of yet. I don't know at what age that would begin. I am hoping that if they grow up together it can stay peaceful. I guess only time will tell with that as well.

It is funny how fashion or popularity dictate worth or price. To me, my black one is the least impressive at this point. I need to get more pics of some of the other guys. Their markings are spectacular. What is also interesting is how different each ones fin type or veil is. The Dorsal fin on the koi is much like that of an Orca same for the Black but the others are very very tall maybe 2 times the height of the body and very elegant looking. They are just very fascinating to me at this point. Now I hope they don't turn all nasty and mean to each other. lol

I just noticed a few fins on that site like the ones on my fish. It must be normal for some species? I will keep an eye on it either way.
