Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the bacteria for fresh water is different than that of saltwater. I don't think the bio-wheels are going to be of much help, till you get some fresh water bacteria.

The only bottled bacteria that might work is Tetra Safe Start.Don't waste your money on Cycle or any other bottled bacteria. If the bio wheels were on a salt tank, they won't cycle your FW tank. You also need a constant source of ammonia to sustain the bacteria. It kind of sounds to me like you may be better off just starting from scratch.Your water will become cloudy at the beginning of the cycle.

here fishy,fishy

I think you're right TW, I'm pretty sure those Bio-Wheels will not help cycle your tank. Read up on cycling your tank from the get-go.....see if you can find a friend who will loan you some gravel from his/her tank to help just start yours.

This post is a little late but it seems to me you are trying to rush things.
Slow down........... if you rush it now you will have tons of issues later. And get some new bio wheels. I wouldn't even be using bio wheels that were used in saltwater to try to cycle my freshwater. Its two different types of water with completely different types of bacteria.
