I ran these numbers before. I have... well had I guess, right now it's sitting empty waiting for me to get money for a filter, a 55 gallon tank. I tend to assume 10 lbs per gallon to account for things like substrate. With the stand the tank weighed in at ~600 lbs. It covered an area just over 4 ft square (624in^2) That's just under 1 pound per square inch. Take into account that the tank was supported by four 6 inch square foot pads and the loading under the pads was only about 4.17 pounds per square inch. It's not light, but if your house can't take that kind of loading it needs some serious attention. The only thing to do to make doubly sure is to have the tank run lengthwise across the floor joists instead of with them.
