Red face Need suggestions for 10 gallon tank

Hi all,
I'm new to the board. I'd appreciate some suggestions for what to do for my ten gallon (40L) tank. It's been running for over a year now. At the moment it's only got two fish in it.
I'd like to redo it completely, but I'm not entirely sure what to do with it, except that I want a more 'natural' look.

Any suggestions? I could use pointers for substrate, plants, other features, and fish.

There's a picture of what it looks like now in my aquarium log.

Thanks!

It really boils down to personal taste. There are so many options but in the end it's up to you what you like. There are a lot of gorgeous tanks on here, if you find one you like you could ask what the person's used. I think Byron's planted tanks are nice, if you copied his plantings on a smaller scale, that could look good. The only concrete suggestion I can offer at this stage is that you need taller plants at the back, and you need taller in the back, then some medium, with your small ones in the front. Unfortunately, I don't know the types of plants which would work in your tank to give you that. Sorry I'm not much help!

ETA: Oh, and welcome to the forum! I hope you like it here.

Welcome to the forum! I also agree with Tanker as far as checking out other tanks you like and go for duplication. My personal tastes always go to planted tanks, black sand substrate and black backgrounds. Lots of people here have gorgeous tanks. Maybe take a look at them?

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

Welcome to TFK!

I would also get a dark background for your tank. It hides your HOB filter and your wires and generally makes all of the decor and fish "pop" more than if you can see the white wall behind the tank.

What is the algae eater you have in the tank? Angelfish grow much too large for a 10g so I think you should look into an upgrade or consider rehoming the angel (and possibly the algae eater, depending on what species of fish it is).

Yeah, I will have to rehome them both eventually.

Thanks for the suggestions.
