Need help to setup my new 43 Gallons Tank.

Today I am gonna receive my 43 gallons tank which I have ordered 6 days ago ( So much waiting). I have a lots of thoughts and dreams about it. It will be freshwater community aquarium. I have a 7 Gallons tank. Which is medium planted . I want my new tank planted too. For setting up my new tank. I need your help. I have lots of questions as I am know very less about all these.

Fish for my new tank = Giant Danio , Dwarf Grourami , One small Pleco , Dalmatian Molly

Suggest me some more community fish with extraordinary interesting personality :)

What is good for planted aquarium gravel or beach sand ? Or Both Together ?

Which will help me to keep my aquarium water clean gravel or sand ?

Now In my Tank I have Duckweed , Horwort and Anacharis any other easy to grow plant?

I need a fish which is a fast and will catch uneaten small sized food chewed from other fish.

For now these are the things I need to know. All kinds of suggestions are welcomed.

gravel do better for plants as it harder for the roots to anchor in sand.duckweed is easy to might want to cycle the tank first since it's planted. 4 weeks of fish or fishless cycle will be up to you. while your waiting you can do the stock list

5x2x2 aro,highfin bat,fei feng,ST,albino tinfoil,c.perch
4x1.5x1.5 planted tetras,harlequins,
otto,WMM,2 types of celebes rainbows,rcs,amano, bamboo,red ramhorns,MTS
3.5x2.5x2 flowerhorn,pleco
3x1.5x1.5 russel's lion,blue cleaner,sixline and leopard wrasse,maroon clown pair,green chromis,scorpion,tiger cowrie,turbo,lyretail anthias,jewel,anemone,star polyp,marbled and giant green mushi,zoa

I would suggest EcoComplete for the gravel you can get it for about $16 for a 20 pound bag from petco if you have petco were you live. If you can get lots and lots of plants you will not have to worry about the cycle. You can order them online and it may save you some money. or are both good places to get plants online if you live in the USA. Post your water perimeters and that will help us suggest more fish for you exspecially the ph, hardness, and temp you plan to keep the tank at.

Kindest Regards,

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

I have a 55 gallon, 40 gallon, 29 gallon, 20 gallon tank, 5 gallon , and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.

There are some issues with this stocking. Giant Danio (Devario aequipinnatus ) is as its name implies a larger danio; attains 6 inches, is a shoaling fish so it needs to be in a group, and it is very active (fast swimmer) so it needs space, especially length. A 4-foot tank is the minimum; I suspect your 43g is not this long, so I would not recommend this species. Also, the active swimming of the danio can easily upset more sedate fish like the gourami. I would not keep these together.

Some of the smaller (medium) danio would be fine, we have 2 or 3 in our fish profiles, second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the screen, search using "danio" and it will list them. However, all danio are "active" and gourami do not appreciate this. Also, there are serious health concerns over the Dwarf Gourami, as noted in our profile of this species.

No mention is made of your water parameters out of the tap, so it's difficult to suggest possible fish combinations without knowing the water.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
