Need help with a RE-stocking list

My water parameters read: Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5.0
PH: 7.6
Soft water, don't know the exact numbers.
Temp: 79 degrees

I want fish that will NOT eat or damage the plants. No more landscapers. They must get along with the current residents which include. 1 Blue Gourami (my fave) 7 Tiger Barbs (sassy but cute) 1 Rainbow shark (owns the bottom of the tank, but hasn't behaved too aggressively) 4 Otocinclus (tied for favorites spot) 2 mystery snails (It is a mystery I got talked into getting any snails)

Please, bring on the suggestions. I would love to hear stories of how your fish get along if you have similar stocking lists. I was wondering about getting a dozen schooling fish. That might keep them safer from the fin nipping Tiger Barbs? I have not actually ever noticed the Barbs going after anyone else in the tank, they pretty much keep their monkeying around to themselves. The Blue Gourami swims right in the middle of their tom foolery and watches as though entertained by their stunts.

I am wondering about Platy's, Tetras, Guppies? What do you all think?

I would skip the guppies bc i think those gorgeous tails might be too tempting for the barbs. I have serpae tetras, pristella tetras, emperor tetras and boesmann rainbows in my community tank with the green tiger barbs.

what size tank are you stocking??

p.s. - the rainbows are real showpieces and peaceful fish. check out my submission in the aug. fish of the month contest to see one of my ladies :)

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

oh, they certainly are pretty. Nice picture too. I just looked them up on Dr. Foster's and Smith. It looks like the are about $15.00 a fish. I need a school of them for them to be happy. I would certainly hope they get along well with the other fish. Yikes! I will have to check to see if I can find them locally. I do like how colorful they are.

Any other suggestions?

Oh, and the tank is a 60 gallon 48 inches long
