Need advice on addition to my 20GL?

Hi all!

I need some advice. I have a 20 GL. Inhabitants are 3 dwarf rainbows, 2 Panda Garras and 1 male Platy. I have a "rescue" dwarf blue Gourami in quarantine for about 4 months. Can I add him to my 20GL? Wuill he get along with my other fish? Thank You in advance, Kathy

I would not add a gourami to this tank. The existing fish require a different environment for one thing, then there is the issue of the fish load which is already more than full.

Check the needs of the exisiting fish in our profiles. The panda garra is not yet included, so here is some reliable info on this species:

Hi Byron,

My tank is soft H20...aren't Guarami's soft H20 fish? My Platy was a left over form my last batch of fry. I have since re-homed all my Platy's. My local LFS is going to take him next time I go. So you think my 6 fish are too much for my 20GL?

Yes, gourami are soft water. The platy is the harder water fish.

So now you have a 20g high (normal) with 3 dwarf rainbow, 3 panda garra. Assuming the rainbow is the Neon Dwarf, Melanotaenia praecox, which attains 2-3 inches, and should be in a group of 5-6... I would get a couple more and that's it. Check the profile for info on male/female.

Is the gourami a blue gourami, or a dwarf gourami? I would not recommend either in this tank, but at the same time if it is a must, it might manage.
