This is my first time cycling a tank and i want to get it right. Below are the last 3 days results

6 Feb:

A= 0 (tank was dosed 24 hrs earlier to 4 ppm )
No2 = 2ppm
No3 = 10ppm
Ph = 7.6
Dosed ammonia back to 4 ppm at 6:30pm

7 Feb:

7:00am: A = .25ppm (dosed back to 4ppm)

6:30pm: A =.25ppm
No2 = .5ppm at
No3 = 10ppm

Ammo dosed back to 4ppm at 6:30 pm

This morning, 8 Feb, the tank readings were as follows:

A= 0.25
No2 = 0.25
No3 = 20
Ph = 6.4

I just did a 50% water change which brought the ph back up to7.2 and have dosed the ammo back to 4ppm. Should i be dosing the ammo back to 4ppm everytime it drops down to .25ppm which, currently, is every 12 hrs or should i be leaving it for a full 24 hrs to see what the readings are then? I'm surprised the nitrate readings are not higher than they are..especially with the nitrite dropping so quickly now. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Keep dosing back to 4ppm and don't worry about the pH it'll be all over the place while you're cycling. I don't recommend doing water changes while cycling unless there are fish in the tank. When the nitrites and ammonia read 0 24 hours after dosing 4ppm of ammonia, do this three more times to make sure, do a WC to remove Nitrates if it works and you're set to add fish.
