I just got these guys last night. I have fully recovered from a bad case of ich (2weeks ago) were i lost 6 fish :( I picked the first one out because he looked like the venustus i lost. The fish guy said he did not know exactly what he was but was pretty sure he was not a Venustus. What do you guys think?

Nimbochromis venustus or Giraffe cichlid is the first / second one.

Third one is a young dragons blood

Fourth looks like to be a hybrid but way too young to tell exactly what it is.

Man Made Hybrids, not really aggressive but a very nice fish to have. They will eat the same diet as almost all cichlids.

Technically a peacock as it was a line bred cross between Aulonocara species.

what fish do you have now?

I would stick with that stocking for now and see how it works out..it may not long term as there are a few fish in there that may be aggressive to each other.

The venustus is going to be the largest at 10-11"

The only one i see being aggressive at all is the Labeotropheus fuelleborni. He has dug out his hole and leaves everyone alone as long as they leave his hole alone! how long before some of these guys reaqlly start to grow. The Venustus 10" really! WOW.
I have heard that feeding them good food is important to getting them to grow as well as regualr water changes. I do both. Omega one pellets and water change about 20% at least every other week. sometime weekly.

Switch the bi-weekly to weekly, they need to be overfiltered.

Red Shoulder,
1 German Red,
2 Strawberry,
3 OB Peacocks,
1 Dragons Blood

These may be aggressive to each other as they mature as they are quite similar in color. Not saying it will happen but it might.

The venustus will take a few years to get up to 10" but it is well worth the wait.
