What's the difference? I thought dolomite was just CaMg(CO3)2, while "lime" just referred to any mineral with calcium in it.

Dolomite gravel slowly adds calcium and magnesium as water passes over it; I've had good results for years with no issues.

Dolomite lime presumably is very fine, a powder, intended as garden fertilizer in acidic soils, and thus would, I assume, be difficult to contain and likely spread all through the water. Messy I would think.

Or there is the danger it might actually be dolomitic lime which is not dolomite but high magnesium and would be detrimental to plants.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. Ah ok. Powder does sound rather messy. Thanks!
