hello, i want to buy a new 50 gallon tank because i saw beautiful fish at the lfs, pingpong gold fishes, i would like to have some ideas in filtration foods and tankmates for these kind of fishes. is the clown loach ok for them? planning to use a bare aquarium only. thank you in advance, and merry christmas to all! how many fishes can i put in here?
Goldfish are coldwater fish, whereas most loaches are tropical fish. Dojo loaches would make good tankmates for goldfish, though. Keep in mind that goldfish are very messy, so I would only put two or three of them in a 50g tank.
Also: the pingpong goldfish, known as pearlscale goldfish, are bred to look that way and as a result they have a lot of associated health problems. These fish often suffer from swim bladder disorders and have a hard time swimming around. Personally, I don't support the sale of fish that have been modified or bred in any way that causes them pain or otherwise effects their quality of life.
i changed my mind, i thought that they were so cute but when i look at them at the lfs, they look like a mutant, they cannot swim like other fishes, btw i dont know what fish to buy yet, but i am a bit worried about the filter that i will use for my tank, because it seems that i will have a very hard times when cleaning my tank, it is below me 50g tank. here is the picture of it.
what type of filter should i use? because as you can see, there's only an 6 inch gap to put somthing in it like filters. for example, if i use a ohf filter for the tank below, how should i clean it? sorry for the grammar.
The best thing for poor access like that is probably an internal filter like the Fluval 4+. The biggest advantage is that it can be removed right out of the front of the tank for cleaning, I just did mine that way last week. They are not as nice looking as some of the other filters because you can see them in the tank but for limited access like that they work out better.
I'd probably go with a canister and set it to one side. The only thing that will go in the tank are the hoses. With that kind of access though it's going to be difficult to get to the tank at all.
thank you everyone for helping me from my first to the second tank! merry christmas to you all! by the way, i managed to put a ohf again in this aquarium, a 3ft ohf filter box with powerhead submersible, and i DIY the pvc pipes leading to the ohf. My question is, do i have to wait again for long time to put some fish in the tank? somebody told me that i get a wool in the ohf of my old cycled tank, to the new ohf media? is this true? thanks. have a nice day everybody.
i put the ceramic rings inluding the net bag for easy cleaning, and green filter mats too. i have a empty media space at the end but i dont know what to put in it, more ceramic rings? or filter wool again?
I'm a little unclear on how this is set up. Do you have a picture or description of the plumbing?
