is my filter dead? help asap!!!

i unplugged my filter to check it and wash it out so it wouldn't over heat. now it wont turn on! the store is closed now and i dont have a way to get to the store at the moment. are there any methods to maybe get it to run again and if those dont work, can the fish wait 13 hours ish to get a new filter, or motor?

What type of filter is it? You may need to jiggle the impellar, it might be loose/not sitting correctly (I have to do that with my HOB's sometimes to start them again). Is there enough water in the canister for it to start pumping? Is the filter making any sound?

With HOB's sometimes the impellers get off set, if it is a HOB just try moving the impeller back into place.

What type of filter is it? It may need to be primed by adding water into the back of the filter. When you plugged it back in could you hear the motor?

LOL, i had this happened to me, just take the motor out, take the propeller out and look inside. I used a tube brush to clean it and stick the propeller back on. see if that works. mine stopped on me, i was going to return the thing but i had read that hob does there now and then. just gentle cleaning will do the trick
