moving objects in a full aquarium

ok so you have objects in place ,water in the aquarium and you want to move a few things around but your aquarium is very deep and if you put your arm in there water has the possibility of spilling over so how do you move things around?

If you have that much water in the tank, you will have to siphon a bit out first.

I keep my tanks filled just to the bottom of the frame, which leaves about 1+ inches of air above the water before the top. You can have the water level a bit lower as well, it doesn't matter.

Remember it's basic science... you will be displacing the volume of water that is the size of your arm. You put in a large rock, the water rises the volume of the rock, in water.
So do the first half of your water change... move your stuff around and then after, fill up the tank.
You don't have to put your arm in as deep that way too.
Remember to turn your heater off and then on again after, especially if doing a larger water change. i.e. don't leave it on uncovered by water, it can crack.
