I've used Mopani in my tank before and had the same problem with the fungus. It went away after a while, but I replaced it with another piece of diftwood. It's a local Florida wood that they sell at my lfs, but I'm not sure what kind it is. I've seen Malaysian, but I haven't used it in any of my tanks yet.
