Well after weeks, ok months, of looking, gathering ideas, price shopping, and KEY importance, wife let me. I Upgraded to a 50 gal top fin tank. I did not want a "starter kit" due to wanted my own kit. So I also did the Penguin 350 filter ( its not near as loud as they say). Then the Adjustable Heater. 40 lbs of black Petco sand (yes that actually gave me more then an inch deep). Also purchased 2 Anubias barteri var. barteri attached to rock, one for each end of the tank. There are still several more upgrades to do, but will purchase as funds are available. Let the cycling begin..lol..:-D

I put my ten gallon in my sons room.

Update...

well weekend water test at Petco.. Looks perfect...0 ammonia, 0 Nitrate, 0 nitrites, PH 6.8 ish....
10-12 gal water change tonight.. did my own API Master test... less then .25ppm Ammonia, 0 Nitrate and Nitrites, PH looked like 7.6. I did add some comet goldfish..the weekend I set up the tank.. I have 2 in there at the moment.. Fixing to re home them this weekend and let my tank work another week or so then start on my new stock fish... Going to the LFS and see what they can get me..Here is what I think I want..

1m/4f- Pseudotropheus saulosi
1 some sort of Pleco
and some cats...

just an idea so far... Depends on what I can get and how much they all cost..lol

big diffrences in ph there, u should do this when u test, fill ur tube to the line cap it and shake for 30 seconds take cap off then add drops. this is ur ph with the co2 gassed out. then try it without shakeing and see what the diffrence is. if its the same you have a super low buff cap which means it doesnt take much to move your ph. labs require a higher ph. if the tank is at 6ish just starting i would advise agianst them as it will just slowly get lower from nitrac acids being produced by the benifital bac. not to mention if you through in natrual DW the tannis that leech can also lower ph. gratz on the tank though so fun building a tank espcailly when the wifs ok with it!

Ok did that test, and yes there was some difference in the results. Shaking the heck out of it showed between 6.8 and 7..Just testing as soon as I took it from the tank was 7.2 to 7.6 .. real close shade to each.. I could add some crushed coral to the extra room in the filter and that should work correct?

Ok todays readings...

pH... 7.0
Ammonia....25ppm
Nitrite... 0
Nitrate...0
Temp.. 84 F
Needing pH up and Ammonia down..

I have one rock in my tank.. transferred it from my established tank is getting white on the sides and bottom. And my gold fish looks to have the same white forming on parts of his black stripes. The 2 gold fish are getting rehomed this weekend.

Also still wondering about all the bubbles in my tank that my filter keeps stirring around. (See pic above)
