*Stops thread because it's making me want a L183*

Goodness mn011890, threads like these ugh lol
And now I'll rationalize possible future purchase.. Well my bichir thinks the average bn pleco found in petstores are nom nom nom and he loves my clown pleco(partners in crime since the day they met) so I think I have to order pretty new pleco like L183...

Barry_gibb-A 150 gallon tank is still plenty big to me. I used to have a common pleco when I was a kid. He did well with zebra danios and corydoras for years. Way too small of a tank though, but again I'm blaming it on being a kid. Some of what you heard makes me laugh, but some of it is true. the small biotope is the part that makes me laugh. Any aquarium capable of housing a fish that cn get a foot or longer isn't going to be what I call small. Big and open is the way to go because of their size and plants don't do well because they like to dig. The behavior of your's sounds about right. It had nothing to do with the tank being too big. That's just how they are.

If you're planning to breed any of the rare Apistos you're getting be careful. Lots of species in that genus can hybridize and I saw that you have some already.

mn011890-I thought so, but just wanted to check :D I hate common names too. See below.

Agent-NO!!!! Don't let a pretty little L183 become a possible bichir snack! I will hold my jealousy against you forever. There's another species called a starlight bristlenose, L182. It's almost three times the size. Think that would be better?

Honestly I don't think size has a thing to do with it. My bichir is a fat 8 inches but spends a lot of his time with the clown pleco that seriously is only 1.5 inches at most . They sleep together, come out together and I suspect kill together . I need to decipher the reason behind their bond before risking another bottom dweller... Don't worry( yet)

Baybay is nuts? I still say a 9 inch pleco is harder to eat than a 3 inch one :P I get what you're saying.

Any pictures of your clown pleco? You can get back at mn011890 for making this thread, by showing yet another dwarf pleco he could get.

Haha. Sorry agent! I'm just trying to do my homework before I start throwing fish in all willy nilly and what not

BWG: I'm glad you mentioned the L182. I will definitely need to differentiate that when asking about getting one ordered. I'd hate to end up with the wrong one and run out of room

Hmm.. Shockingly I don't think I do yet. I'll need to fix that asap! I think I spend too much time in amazement of his choice in friends and forget the camera.

No apologies needed. Do my homework for me .. I honestly appreciate it as I do like plecos of the medium/smaller variety and want another one day.

One can never stop learning.. That is when mistakes are made by ego's that stand in the way of reason and humility.

If you guys want a list I can give one. I've been going easy and trying to keep the options to a minimum.

pssssst. guys. . .it's my sworn duty as a TFK mod to make sure you've all been warned. . . never ask BWG for a list, unless you really want one! His lists are notoriously epic. . .

Good luck with the Plec hunt, MN - looks like you're getting some fantastic input!
