Reading with intrest as am on the hunt my self for a nice pleco to hang around my tank, our local pet shop had zebras in last week 110 each thats $200 i think pritty expencive, this week theres little golden nuggets at a frction of the price per pair, like the look of these small plecos , but on threads like these you allways hear of something new and atractive, and in your case expencive.

Yeah I keep looking at the picture, then into and behavior, then price. And then I'm disappointed. Haha. My local guy said he can probably get me one of the Rio negro plecos. I'm just worried about if I have enough current. I could always give it a shot and try to add some current if I need to. I just wish there were less options. I want them all. Haha

Barry gibb-Here's a profile for gold nuggets. Holy crap man you really have a 579 gallon tank?!?

mn011890-Been trying to read up on the Rio Grande since I've never kept them. Sounds like they enjoy lots of current and can be a little aggressive with other bottom dwellers if there is a lack of space/hiding places. If you have the same filter as in your first post then you're just shy of 7X turnover an hour. I don't know if that's enough, but you're not exactly at low flow either. Just depends how much you want to stick with blackwater fish.

Oh OK. Thanks for checking it out! I might be leaning towards that starlight bristlenose then. L183 I think you said it was. Its just a very pretty, somewhat elegant fish

Starlight bristlenose, yep. Sometimes called the white seam pleco too. Here's a bit more info on them and how to tell it apart from related species. The White Seam Bristlenoses • Catfishology • Shane's World • PlanetCatfish The only one I've ever seen for sale is L183, but it never hurts to make sure the species being sold is really what it's supposed to be.

Marbellohsdad mentioned common bristlenoses and those would work well too. They'll be captive bred so not as delicate as newly imported starlights might be. Wide range of colors for you to check out. Lemon drop, green dragon, super red, calico, albino, regular, albino blue eyed. Many of them come with either long or short fins. Just to make your list of options longer ;)

Do they really? Maaan. Like I need more options. Haha. I already am having a hard time deciding. I'll look into some of those different common plecos too. I don't even know where to begin now

Sorry I should have just said bristlenose, instead of common bristlenose. You definitely don't want a common pleco in a 29 gallon. Clarifying now just in case I confused you.

Haha you know the bother a 597ltr gets me into farless gallon? Am sure it automaticly put gallon, edited something back to ltrs but your still seeing gallon so looks like yous will need need to drop me of a bigger tank to kerp me right.
Cheers for the link bwg i think am going for them this week along with some rarer apistogrammas, money money money

I used to have a common pleco (blubblub) as the wee yin called him he grew very slowly from 2" to 8" took him three years a year in a half of his life was spent in the big tank what he bulldozed regul, up turning plants and caves he even knocked heaters of the glass forced a swordtail up and out the water because the sw tail was simple on his grazen patch, he was a nutter, when i finsl got a shop to rehome him the fella said my tank was too big for him so he ran amock. He went on to say these fish do better in the more smaller biotope style tanks with minimum plants, and less fast moven fish. I think i heard it all that day, to big and open space a aqarium for a pleco. What do you think BWG aload of crap advice from my local store or just a crazy common

Av all ways said if a get a pleco again it would need to be a tad rare,

Yeah I'm clear on it. I had meant to type common bristlenose rather than common pleco. Sometimes these fish names all run together and get jumbled in my head. Haha
