Marineland Pure Carbon Or Blend?

One variety has both the white ammonia remover and carbon and the other is pure carbon.

Should I get the mix to remove ammonia just for the heck of it or should I stay with pure carbon?

54 OZ diamond blend = $14
36-40 oz Activated Pure Carbon = $28

I don't have significant ammonia problem but if it can remove whatever there is, then I'm cool. I got a rather large mass of moss in my tank I remember, maybe pure carbon then?

I think you should save your money and skip any chemical filtration....

.... I'm probably drunk.

This is how I lurk

if you have java moss in your tank, carbon and ammonia remover will both do more harm than good. Unless your tank is running in huge excess of nitrates and organics, the moss should be countering that well. Adding more biological filtration will help the tank more than any chemical filtration will since they will end up removing nutrients your plants will need for growth. Plus carbon and ammonia both become inactive pretty quickly so it will be very expensive to keep up that refilling schedule.
