pH at a nice constant level (around 7.6 for the discus),
Thats a little high for Discus, you should keep them closer to 6-6.5.

I was thinking the same thing.

i bought some crushed coral and added a little to each tank. now the water is cloudy. should i have rinsed it first?
Yes, now you have tiny coral dust floating in your tank! If you have a canister filter it should clear it up eventually.

after adding crushed coral to a tank how long does it take till it regulates the pH to what it is going to keep it at? I need to know when to test to tell if I need more crushed coral or not.
I would give it 24-48 hours.

Also, if you do have a canister filter then you can use the 'panty hose' method suggested above but put that stuff right in your canister filter.

Good luck.

i dont have a canister filter. i have a hang on the back filter in one tank and an air driven filter in the smaller tank.

the dust has cleared up. just hoping i didnt put too much crushed coral in the tanks. guess i should have put some in pantyhose and just sat it in there until i knew how much i would need.
