If you want 2 or 3 maybe think about a 40 to 55 gallon. Goldfish get huge and produce a ton of waste for their size.

I can't go that big 20 is as big as I can go. Is gravel a must? I hate gravel. I haven't seen that sand is taboo or ok....

Keep only one goldfish, Marie. Gravel isn't a must. I've kept my goldfish tanks barebottom with plants in pots. Works well for me. I tried gravel and I kept hurting my back vacuuming every area thoroughly.

LOL, you wouldn't tell, I know you better than that. Besides, the dark side is the good side!

Check out my hospital tank in my aquariums tab. It's barebottom and for decoration I have potted plants. (I take out the pots when need be) It's a pretty cool idea, if you ask me. Goldies like to nibble plants, though. So maybe the pots but no plants.

The potted plant deal is very cool ~ we advocated that a lot on SD.
