leaky eclipse hood

I have the eclipse explorer II and am having trouble with the hood leaking. It usually leaks out the back left side, down the power cord or drips down the back of the tank. If i take the filter media out, the flow seems to be at a lower level inside the filter system. With any filter media in there, it seems that a tiny stream backs up and goes over the top of the filter head....it is such a small amount it is hard to trace and I can't tell if this is what is causing the leak. Has anyone had this issue before? Any suggestions?
