i want to start a 10 gallon

i have a ten gallon that is empty im planning on (now try to picture this) natural sand small piece of driftwood, live plants (not sure which yet maybe you can give me some ideas),3 dwarf puffers and 4-5 ottos of course some snails not for the tank if you know what i mean how does this sound?

That sounds like a great setup to me! The puffers will really like the live plants.

Anubias Nana and crypts (I think Wendtii) are doing well for me in my 10 gallon with sand. I also have java fern. You could tie the java fern to the driftwood. These are all low light plants, no CO2 needed.

what kind of snails? it matters because they might eat plants (ramshorns).

Pond snails may be a better optin to begin with. They breed like crazy so you would have a better supply for the puffers, and their shells are softer and a little easier for the puffers to eat.

Plus, they're WAY cheaper. My LFS gives them to me for free if I ask. There's a reason they're called "pest snails"

wow cool i can do that cheap is always good or free is better but can any one give me more ideas on begginer plants do i need a co2 canister ?and can i put 4 or 5 puffers or is it better with just 3 this will be a hopfully heavy planted tank what lite is best for this?
