I need to get rid of ammonia. How?

My ammonia is reading at 0.6. My pH is 7.4. My KH is 80.
I haven't checked my Nitrite yet, and I don't know how to check my Nitrate.
I don't have any chems. for cycling a tank.
I changed about 30% of my water yesterday.
I'll check my nitrite and update this.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

You can do partial water changes to keep the ammonia down.

It might be more economical to purchase a liquid master test kit. It has the test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, though it sounds like you have 2 of the 4 tests. Some test kits also include the gh and kh tests as well.

Oh wait, I just re-read you post and the info about your tank. Sorry I didn't pay closer attention. Sounds like you have all the tests except for the nitrate test kit.

You should probably just be doing small daily water changes until your water parameters stabilize.

Can you tell I'm tired? Sorry for the multiple posts.

My favorite trick for cleaning the gravel of small tanks is to use a turkey baster. It will suck up all the poop and leftover food nicely (though sometimes it sucks up the gravel as well). Keeping the gravel clean will help keep the water parameters in check.

Okay, I'll change some of the water right away. I was just worried about letting my pH get too high.
I'll try the turkey baster trick too.
I had been using the pipette that comes with the test kits to do it before. Took a long time. lol.
I was told to lower pH you could use a sponge to gently wipe the gravel. Is that true?
Wouldn't that be the same as sucking up all the old food and waste?
No worries about multiple posts either. I'd rather get all the info in many posts than not get the info.
Thanks so much for your time.
