Although only still a newbie if fish keeping my desire for a 2nd tank has come true.Even while I was still cycling my 10g I was thinking about a 5g tank for a betta and some shrimp (I even got a nice piece of bogwood thats curved like a cave for the purpose).I got a aqua one 320 with cabinet off ebay tonight and will be picking up tomorrow,I'll put the filter to run along my filter in my 10g to get some BB (will a week do to get a decent BB start?) then I'll transfer a fish over to the new tank to keep it cycling until I get a betta & plants next month/payday (shrimp will come later when the tank is established).
Since winning the bid I have seen another tank (about 7g) going cheap with a broken hinge so hopefully it will stay cheap, ideas are now running through my head for that one (time to be sweet to my wife),though 3 tanks will be my limit..so I keep telling myself
Hopefully the betta will be shrimp friendly (if not the 3rd tank will be useful!)
As a fellow sufferer, I suggest that you not look at the bettas when you go to the shop. There'll always be one you like the look of and you'll start getting ideas about where you could put another tank....
LOL. True about the pet store "avoidance" aisle. I have to force myself to steer clear of those stacks of cups. After all, there's always room for another tank right? Like the couch? The spare bed? The bathtub?
I have to say... that may be one of the most interesting projects someone put in my head for awhile.
There are free couches all the time... imaging building supports throughout the center of it, and just keeping the back, arms, and skirt for looks, and having it be a massive tank stand.........
UnfortunatelyI won't be doing said project anytime soon. Unless I happen to fall upon a couch dimensionally close to my 55 gallon, and a half dozen 2 by 4s.
If I ever do in the future, I'll pm you and post pics lol.
Yes! I started with a 29 gallon then bought a 6 gallon for a betta, which I will be adding some shrimp to soon because it is ALMOST done cycling! Multiple tanks are fun, but no good, NOW I WANT A 100 gallon cichlid tank lol
