I can't find pure ammonia!!!!

I just got a 20 gal to use as a nursing tank, and want to cycle it without fish. I can't find the pure ammmonia in order to cycle it. I've been to hardware stores and grocery stores and can't seem to find it anywhere. The closest I got is the colorless, unscented kind with surfactants in it. Is this okay to use that instead of pure ammonia? Do you guys know a store that sells it?

You should only use pure ammonia. Have you tried a True Value or Ace Hardware Store? Mine carry it....

My store does have pure ammonia, or clear ammonia, which is the same thing, but its comes with surfactants in it. Is it necessarily a bad thing? Do you think it'll be alrite if i use that and then do a 90% or so water change after the cycle? IMO i don't think surfactants should really do any harm to fish.

I'm no chemist by any stretch of the imagination but I do know that some surfactants are known to be toxic to animals, ecosystems and humans. I wouldn't use it, but that's just me. I'd wait for someone w/ more experience to give you the answer before using it.

You do not want ammonia with surfactants. Ace hardware has what you need.

Winn Dixie has it, the only ingrediant on the back are Ammonium and Hydroxide solution, just got done cycling a tank with it, took about 2 weeks
