I better check before I introduce the betta

Ok, College age daughter bought betta for dorm room. All is great. Brings fish home Thanksgiving, leaves "will take back after Christmas." That does not happen. I have a betta, on our mantle, in a nice size bowl.

Wife not happy.

I have a 1.5 year old, heavily planted 75 gal aquarium. It is working like a champ. Here is my question, Can I add the betta to the aquarium.

Here is what I have in there:

several small shoals of corys
6 cherry barbs that have been there from day one
6 celestial pearl danios
8 pork chop rasboras
4 german rams
2 bosemani rainbows

In a previous setting I put betta in with gouramis...learned that lesson well. The above list does not seem to be bad, but I really need some expert advice.

I hate for "Leland", the betta, to live in that bowl, but at the same time, and moreso, I don't want to mess up my wonderful community.

Thanks so much for any and all replies.

From your description, it might not be a good idea to put your betta in that community tank--particularly with the danios and blue rams in there. Blue rams, for example, if I am not wrong, are cichlids and will be aggressive toward your betta fish. I hope this helps.

While I keep bettas, I've never kept them with anything else. We have a betta subforum here that has a place to ask about betta compatibility. http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/b...compatibility/ You might want to ask there.

Iv got a Betta in with cherry barbs, neons, rosy tetras and shrimp, perfectly fine with all of them, tho he did try to go for the shrimp at 1st but they were to quick for him. Now he just looks at them, damn hes lazy, find it draped over the spray bar sleeping
