I'm a little partial to those cherry barbs myself. Just to throw my 2 cents into the mix.

from aesthetics standpoint, i'd vote first for the tetras and second for the cherry barbs. They're all cool choices, though. They'll all look good in that beautifully planted tank.

So all say barbs but 2....

@Kym any bad exp with them?

I'm leaning towards Barbs more....because I'm stocking the 45g with a big Tetra order next week....so then having similar Tetars in the 55g would possibly get boring after a while I think, Kissings & Barbs would be something different, so each tank has its own lil world going on...know what I mean?

No vacation. I've taken a slight break from reading so much about planted tanks to let it all settle in. i'm in a holding pattern on setting up my 55g.
My furnace went out and considering it is a cheaper make that's 7 yrs old I decided to replace it. So $3700 from the wallet is leaving me a bit light for the time being. And my plates are due for my truck lol. If it's not one thing it's another. But I'm here readying for the day, hopefully soon, to get my filter, substrate, and plants and get this tank rocking.

I had barbs once. Green Tiger Barbs. Cool fish but I accidently them all. Added ammo lock/huge white cloud in tank/ when cleared fish were all dead. They were neat while they lasted. Good luck on your choice.

DANG! Thats no age for a furnace, that's not cool at all, sorry to hear that! Hey at least the tags ain't gonna run you 3700...at least not last time I lived in CO

So you actually do have decided what exactly all you want after all the reading now? Congratulations!

I would vote for the tetras, but I've had no experience with any of these fish. But I did have some neon tetras in the first few months of my aquarium keeping. Then the new BGKs ate them . But they were fun while they lasted!

Amen to that. If it's not one thing it's another. Car registration, business taxes (whopper), vet bills, yikes. This too shall pass!
