How long will my 55G last w/out filtration?

Hi. My Fluval 405 just died for no reason after 22 months , so I just did a 25% water change.

How long can I go without filtration until I can get a new filter shipped to me?

55 Gallon Freshwater
  • 2 Silver Dollar
  • 5 Cichlids
  • 1 Guorami
  • 1 giant tetra
Thanks.

See my reply to your other post, you don't need a new filter. In the meantime do you have a hang on the back filter that you could put on for a day or two?

Worst case scenario put an airstone in and an air pump to get you by.

60 gallon FOWLR in progress

Do you happen to have lots of lava rock in the tank?

I'm still new so my advice may not be on par, but I put lava rock as decor throughout my tanks so there can always be extra bio-filtration in the tank, at least thats what I assume it would end up doing.

Either way from my little knowledge, it would seem that if the shipping is only a week, the tank should be fine if it's established if you do like a 20% every 2 days or something along those lines.

But again, I'm not experienced, this would just be my thoughts if it happened to me.
