And should be tossed. Starting to realize the amount of food I have will last a lifetime . I've got pellets/flakes/wafers that I've had for maybe 6-9 months . Is it time to replace?

I read somewhere that once food is opened, it loses nutritional value rapidly over a 3-month period and any opened food should be tossed after 3 months. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read that!

I keep unopened food in the fridge or freezer for long periods of time and don't worry too much about the age until I open it. I have stopped buying the huge tins of flakes though!

18 species/varieties of fish, 15 species/varieties of plants - The fish are finally ahead of the plants!
*560 gallons (2120 liters) in 5 tanks -> you do the math.
