ammonia and nitrites readings are at the peak should I do a water change or leave it and let them ajust naturally?

I never did water changes when doing a fishless cycle... I did water changes on my first tank while it was cycling, but that was because I didn't know about cycling until after I'd put fish in the tank - so the water changes were solely for the health of my fish. With my second tank, the ammonia and nitrite disappeared once nitrates were showing on my water tests, and I never did a water change.
