I checked the tap water and we don't have any ammonia or nitrites present. I'll do another water change today to get the ammonia level back down to 0. I just hope those little bacteria will show me some signs of life with some nitrites.......

The benefit of plants cannot be understated. Provided there are enough to handle the fish.
I agree. Only thing, in my case at least, I wouldn't have access to enough plants to get all at once. I would need to order them and of course that could take quite some time. I actually need to do that anyways...so I can start planting. But yeah, the water changes are certainly in order.

Ok good news! Houston we HAVE NITRITES AND NITRATES!!!!!!

Current Numbers:
Temp - 78F
pH - 7.6
Ammonia - 1.0ppm
Nitrite - .15ppm
Nitrate - 2.5ppm

I hope by tomorrow when I get up the bacteria will be doing their job and that ammonia number will drop. If I wake up and it's not any lower, then we'll do a 25% water change.
