Help: Sand in my filter

I did sand landscaping today and got some sand sucked up in into my filter (i know, i should have turned it off first, live and learn), and now it is making a grinding sound. I took it apart and rinsed all the parts out, but it is still making a pretty rough sound. Any suggestions on how to clean sand out of the pump? Thanks!

If it's a HOB the impeller is probably shot and you will have to buy/order a new one. I've also learned this lesson the hard way.

I blew it out with one of those canisters of compressed air and it seems to be working now. Thanks for the replies.
