Hey everyone!!!........

I'm new to the forum and have been reading threw posts and different threads and so far it seems like I made a great choice in using this as my first fish forum.

Oddly enough, I'm not exactly" new" aquariums..I've had my guys for about 3 years now..I guess technically still somewhat a newbie of course..haha

However..about 2 years ago I stumbled across this guy at a LFS....Since then of course..he's nearly tripled in size and doesn't seem to be stopping...I haven't been able to locate information..or maybe I'm just not looking in the right area on the vast internet.....

Soo basically I was hoping someone here could help me out..let me konw if he's some type of hybrid..or just a basic species...
I adore this guy....

Thanks so much!

I apologize for the poor video quality...I could only find the old digital camera. I'll hopefully find the newer one in a box somewhere(Just finished moving)

Thanks again,
Kat

reminds me of a Texas Cichlid a friend used to have. I don't know a lot about fish yet though so... probably isn't. Cool looking fish though.

Looks like a Black Belt cichlid to me. They get pretty big and can get nasty with tank mates.

THAT SHOULD BE IT!
thanks so much!...

Yeah..Right now he's in my 180 gallon..and I'm waiting to get my 400 gallon made and established and then I'll move him over.
Hopefully he works out ..as I haven't seen any others similiar to him in ages..but that could just be because I'm in northern Ontario, Canada..haha

Thanks again!:)

Yeah..thanks!
I normally don't make impulse purchases like this..and have worried ever since he's lived for overa year and a bit now..haha...the fish store I purchased him from is in a different city(9 hours drive away) and I have moved since..yes..he survived the drive along with the others..I think I treat my fish as well as my dogs..haha,which is pretty unwordly.

I really appreciate you making that quick discovery for me..haha.:)

Thanks,
Kat
