I have been reading the post about your problem are you sure itís a mark on the outside of the tank and not a scratch.
Ole school tells me to rub ivory bar soap over the mark and if the mark disappears then it might be a scratch if the mark is enhanced then there is something on the glass or there is a scratch on the inside of tank.. When a razor blade fails to work try using toothpaste and soft cloth to buff the mark out. Auto-glass repair shop might be helpful too.
You could always turn the front of the tank to face the wall and re decorate if the mark bothers you much.
