Help!!! huge balloon molly wierd growth

My friends HUGE balloon molly got a wierd growth today i seen in this morning and it didnt have this and all of a sudden it has a wierd growth it looks like white webbing the pic dosnt show it verry good but i tried ...its scales are kinda stickin out a little too in the areas any help

Ok, first of all, This fish is a regular molly, not a baloon molly. Molies get a few inches bigger than the balloons do. I can't quite tell, but it sounds like your fish has dropsy. do some research on dropsy and see if that sounds right.
