ok, so i got my 10 gal tank and i let it run for like 2 weeks before putting in my dwarf gourami, i thought i cycled it but i think i didn't! is my fish in danger? Its been a week since I got her and I don't want her to die :c so what can I do to cycle the tank, can I still cycle it with her in the tank?

i'm sorry for my stupid question but i really loce her and I don't want anything bad happen to her:c:-(
also, if I get some tetras or guppies, would they help to cycle the tank?
I'm worried for her, I feel so stupid:cry:

Thanks:-(

Fine is to broad. Its much easier for people to help and give advice if they have numbers to work with. Also like it has already been mentioned I would not add anymore fish to the tank till it cycled. If the tank isn't cycled the best thing that can be done now is water changes to keep the parameters in safe lvls. I would check the lvls everyday and go from there is the parameters are fine I would leave it alone if not then do a water change. I would continue to do this till the tank is cycled and then go to once a week for water changes.

ph: 8.2 that's my tap water's too
ammonia: .50ppm def doing a water change like right now!
nitrite:0ppm
nitrate:0ppm
i use the api freshwater master test kit

I want to buy a floating plant for my little girl so this may help cycling the tank right? and what about getting some shrimp, would this help too?

thanks, i'm so worried for her :c

Shrimp are sensitive to water parameters so that wouldn't be good till the tank cycles. Yes plants will help with this as they take up ammonia and nitirates as food source. I would continue to watch the lvls and do water changes as needed. Also might want to read the link Iamgray posted. That will help understand whats going on. I would also suggest not to over feed the fish you have as this will cause problems as well.

When i started my tank i had the same problem . I did 20% water changes every second day for a couple of weeks . then every third or forth after that . Everything is under control now and do a weekly or 2 weekly water change .

I also cut feeding back to once every 2 days for a while .
