In aquariums there are normally three things that contribute to cloudy or hazy water. One is filter that is not properly colonized with bacteria or unsdersized for the tank.
Two is overfeeding fish which can cause water to smell ,become cloudy, cause ammonia levels to rise,or all of the above.
Three is bacteria or algae blooms ,which usually dissapear within a week to two weeks.
I recommend you stop buying fish and purchase the test kit. Adding even three or four fish to a tank that has not matured or (cycled) and then possibly over feeding the fish can cause dangerous to lethal levels of toxins such as ammonia, and nitrites to stress the fish to the point of sickness and or death. The only salt needed in Cichlid tanks are cichlid salt's or marine salt's that contain minerals to increase the buffering capacity of your water to achieve hard alkaline water with pH values between 8.0 to 8.6. Tonic salt, (aquarium salt) is not used for this purpose.
Aquarium salt(sodium chloride), is used for treatment of some parasites and is also used to help detoxify nitrites in emergency situations.but for nitrite poisoning, it is much quicker to simply change the water perhaps every few hours to every day depending on levelks recorded with your TEST KIT. Most stores will test your water for you if you bring them a sample.
Do read up on (cycling a new aquarium and cut back on feeding until the tank has matured.)
