Great cheap lighting...

for a 4 ft 55 gallon tank. There have been a few threads lately about cheap lighting and I wanted to share what I did for anyone else that may be on a budget and are not good at DIY project like myself. I went to Lowes and I got this fixture and put it on a glass hood and all I can say is wow it is so much better than the old lights. I got the hood for about $40 at petsupermarket and the light fixture and the two bulbs together were about $40 as well and it looks really good ontop of the tank and it a perfect fit for the tank. I will get pictures later but my camera is in the shop right now getting some issues worked out.

Kindest Regards,
Amanda

Get a shop light at Walmart. They also sell 48" GE full spectrum (6500K) bulbs, 2 pack for $10. Then you have a decent light setup for $20. I needed two setups on my tank to be able to grow much. If plants aren't your goal then one will be enough.

If you want plants, I'd suggest T5HO. I switched recently and will never go back to T8 lighting. The difference it day and night...haha

Home Depot is over an hour away from my house, lowes is not even 15 minutes and the shop lights at Walmart let alot of light shine out from under them I tried them first and took them back because I did not like the way they looked and the two bulbs at lowes were $8.00 together.

Kindest Regards,
Amanda
