This month when I done my monthly 25% water change, I used a siphon vaccum to clean some of the gunk out from beneath the gravels. It worked great except for the fact that the 25% of the water was gone long before I was done cleaning. I need a vacuum that will filter out the debris and put the water back in the tank so as I can give it the good cleaning it needs. I've found some electric ones that are way too expensive. Is there any such thing as manually operated ones like the hand pumps or siphons that filter the water and return it to the tank that would be cheaper?
You can make a kink in the tubing and close off the water flow when you are moving spots in the gravel etc. Also I recommend weekly water changes of 25% not monthly... And you CAN do more than 25% of the water if you want, so even if it takes 50% of the water being sucked out to finish cleaning the gravel, that is absolutely fine the fish will be fine.
