Got a 10 gallon tank now!

Hey everyone,

I know all of you have been telling me to get a bigger tank to put my mollies in and I managed to find a 10 Gallon Tank with hood and light for 8.00 at a friends house. I got the tank now I just need to find a place to put it where it won't irritate my wife. She says I have too many hobbies! Hey you only live once!!

Now I need a filter system. It came with an air pump but that is so yesterday.
I have seen pumps at Petco for $15. The one was an Aqueon 4 stage filter.
I want to keep this as cheap as possible.
What are some decent low cost 10 gallon filters out there? I have seen Whisper, Aqueon, Petco.

Any ideas peeps?

I have a tetra whisper 20I in mine......may change it some day... I started with the internal filter in my boys club tank because its in a pass thru ..then when we set up kitchen, we just followed suit...in retrospect maybe an external ..... would buy you more room, but I love that its SUPER quiet.....pricewise not sure, where it lines up ...my general rule in all things is ...."you get what you pay for"

I have the Aqueon one and I have to say it seems like great quality for the price. The reviews online I read were very positive as well. The actual filter motor is silent but it has a mechanism that drips the water down to remove debris and mix oxygen with the water that makes a light trickling noise. I have it in my office, where I spend more of my time, and I find it relaxing actually.
I am not sure of comparisons with other brands but I am happy with mine.

I would avoid the petsmart brand "Top Fin", I had 2 products and both were cheaply made.

Good luck!

I have this one in 2 of my 10 gallons and I really like them. They are cheap, quite, don't take up alot of room and so far have lasted over a year.
Cascade Internal ? Pet Supermarket

Kindest Regards,

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

55 gallon, 44 gallon, one 20 gallon tank, three 10 gallon tanks, and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.

I have MTS and there is no cure.

I would use a sponge filter in a 10g. HOBs create to much current IMO.

The only benefit Top Fin has is that most products are guaranteed for life. The TF filters and cartridges are made by Tetra, just rebranded. They're definitely cheap but if it breaks you don't have to run out and spend the full cost of buying another.
