I like the black and white sand version but I don't know how well this would suit my angels. I know they are cichlids but they are not african cichlids...which this is designed for.

Just a caution, as this is specifically intended for African cichlids one can assume they mean rift lake cichlids, and the sand might well be calcium-based to add hardness and raise the pH, and/or have salts in it. Which is the opposite of what you want for angelfish that are soft, acidic water fish.
