man i LOVE kijiji! i thought i was going to lose my crown as the scrounge queen but kijiji for the win! i just got myself a 25 gallon tank with everything except the canopy included for free! i'm picking it up on friday. now i just need to find a place for it (anyone know how to re-enforce a bookcase?) and pick up a canopy and light and a water tester to start the cycling for it. would i be able to pick up a canopy for it at a pet store without having to get a tank too? do think i would be able to find it at say walmart or just a pet store?

if i use the filter i have for the 10 gal that has been working for the last 27 months with 3 gold fish, how much time do you think it would take the 25 gal to cycle? the previous owner said he had just cleaned the filter 2 days before i got it, so on the 26. does that matter?

Tanks take a huge range of time to cycle, so I can't really predict the time it will take for you to cycle this one, although using this filter will surely help. Just make sure you don't let the filter dry out at any time and it will be all good.
