| || | Your filter media should composed of filter floss, sponges, ceramic rings, bioballs and others. I'd throw the carbon and keep a new pack in the cabinet until you need it. Carbon is used only to remove stains, odors, medicines and other contaminants.

Stop using table salt as it is not necessary at the moment unless your fish caught diseases that require salt treatment. And another thing, the amount of iodine concentration in table salt is of no concern. People worry needlessly when the salt contains iodine. The lack of iodine would have resulted in goiter among fish.
