fishless cycle please help

I setup my 20 gallon tank and have added stress coat, start zyme and start right. I am trying grow the needed bacteria to use to seed my 90 gallon tank. Ive had alot of trouble with ammonia. So I am going to try the fishless cycle then try and seed the 90g.

What all do I need to do with the 20g. to grow the needed bacteria? How do I do the fishless cycle in the right way. I have tryed the do the cycle with fish in the 90g but cant get it to grow.I have a bottle of hy-top clear ammonia. As far as I can tell in has nothing in it just pure stuff. I shake ot nothing happens. would this be ok to use and how much shold I add to the 20g T?

Thanks

I set up a 20 gallon using API Stress Zyme, and java moss. I injected the Stress Zyme into a sponge filter. Personally I didn't have to much problem with ammonia, at least not more than is expected in a newly cycled tank. I also used seachem Prime as a water conditioner, which does help neutralize some of the ammonia.

I think this is the first time I have responded to a post by you, so I'll start by welcoming you to TFK forum.

The products mentioned are bacterial supplements, but you still need a source of ammonia to make use of them. Some people use fish foods, some shrimp, some pure ammonia. If the latter it must be just pure ammonia; I've no idea what the named product is.

I have never done the above, since I always have live plants and these avoid "cycling" as such.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
