You've got virtually no hope of maintaining the necessary pristine water conditions in a tank that is undersized for the size of the fish, so even if you were willing to take on the responsibility of caring for demanding fish you'd probably be unsuccessful no matter how much effort you put in. If you did try to get that tank, you'd be better off trying to rehome the fish (which might not be that easy to do, it's not like giving away a guppy). I'd wait for something that doesn't come with a whole heap of headaches attached.

it did seem too good to be true, maybe thats why they getting rid of it as fish are too big for tank and too much effort needed.
i will just keep looking. small fish am ok with but demanding fish are another matter.

Hi everyone,
well i have a new tank, its a jewel model, but no idea which one, anyone any ideas (pics attached), (its 4th hand so in last 3 or so years had a few homes) it is L 39", W 11.4", H 15.7"
not sure how many gallon/ltr as have not figued that out yet, but it took a lot of water to fill it, my table was not strong enough so have had to put it on the floor. (forgot how heavy they become)

i have only filled it with water to check for any leaks and to see that the filter pump is working.

will have to go out and get some sponges for the filter as only came with 2 and not enough, the heater is new and 200w

Thats a nice sized tank,congratulations.
There is nothing like looking at a empty tank and thinking of all the different ways you can decorate it and different fish to put in .
I have been looking for a 3 foot fish tank to go downstairs in a alcove. My wife asked me if I have seen one on ebay etc that I would like for christmas so the hunt is on! .

Can you remove it (briefly) and take a pic?.Im sure if you do someone will know what it is.I just did a google of your tank size for a Jewel one and got Jewel filter that matches :
Juwel Powerhead 600 Pump for Rekord 96/120

Once you have a filter brand/model then the info you need can be got from searching on the internet or through this forum.

I have found out that the filter is a Juwel Compact
Was curious if anyone else has a similar filter and how they have set it up.

I have the following filtermedia:
1 x Cirux Basket
1 x Fine Sponge (Blue)
1 x Coarse Sponge (Blue)
1 x Nitrate Sponge (Green)
2 x Carbon Sponges (Black)
5 x Poly Pads (White)

Should I use all the sponges + cirux or miss some out, what is best?

I been told it should be from bottom up:

2 x Blue Fine
1 x Cirux
1 x Blue Course
1 x Green
1 x Black
1 x White

Or is there another order you can have?

yes trhat is the filter but was asking for advice from those that have a similar filter, i have searched the web and some say use the cirux and others say dont, although the instructions dont list cirux other websites say its added above the fine blue

so its a bit confusing, should i add it or should i not or should i have the sponges in a different order?
